| August 25, 2007 - Brother Rice / City Mission Soccer Invitational – Day 1:   The Lions played host Brother Rice to 1-1 regulation tie, and could not advance due to PK shootout loss. South Lyon opened the scoring halfway through the first half. Junior Adam Gentile converted Senior Adam Ohanesian's throw in to make it 1-0 South Lyon. The Warriors tied it up off aet play with 7 minutes left in the 1st half. Theecond half was back and forth, with both keepers making great saves to keep thier teams tied. After 30 minute rain delay and scoreless second half, the game moved into a shootout. Again both keepers came up with some big saves, but Rice outscored the Lions 4-3 to advance in the tournament. Both teams open the season at 0-0-1. |
| August 26, 2007 - Tournament, Day 2:
  South Lyon opened the day against Grosse Point North, taking an early 2-0 lead, and earning 3-2 final win. Senior Jim King, and Juniors Adam Gentile and Chris Kobayashi scored the goals. In the second game against Royal Oak, Kobayashi converted a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead. Junior goalkeeper Brian Young made 4 saves to earn his first shutout of the year and give the Lions the victory. In the third game the Lions faced off against periennial state power Grand Blanc and came away with a 2-0 win. Senior Andy Ohanesian and Jim King tallied the goals. Brian Young and Phil Hanson combined for the shutout.
South Lyon is 3-0-1 on the season and open league play this week with Lakeland at home on Tuesday and away at Brighton on Thursday. |
| August 28, 2007 - Boys Open KVC Play With Win:
  South Lyon used 3 first half goals to coast to a 4-1 victory over KVC foe Lakeland. Chris Kobayashi scored 14 minutes into the game off of a Andy Ohanesian throw in. Then South Lyon scored two goals in the last five minutes of the first half to break it open with goals from Danny Coppola and Kobayashi. Lakeland would cut the lead to 3-1 with 18 minutes left, but Coppola scored his second goal two minutes later to keep the lead at 3.
South Lyon is now 4-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the KVC. |
| August 31, 2007 - Boys Blank Brighton:   The Lions traveled to Brighton for an early matchup of KVC soccer powers and came away victorious with a 2-0 win. The game started out with a lot of midfield play, with not many chances to score for either team. Then a combination play by South Lyon opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game. Junior Jake Green passed to an open Adam Gentile, who found Chris Kobayashi for a 1-0 halftime lead. The second half opened much the same, but a frustrated Brighton team fouled Senior Jim King 30 yards from goal. Kyle Kaminsky sent the free kick into the Brighton box and Gentile headed it into the goal for a 2-0 Lions lead. The SL defense stayed strong and Junior goalkeeper Brian Young made 6 saves to preserve the shutout. South Lyon is now 5-0-1 overall and 2-0 in KVC play. |
| September 4, 2007 - Boys Move to 3-0 in the KVC:
  The Pirates of Pinckney came into the Jungle and fought South Lyon to a 0-0 first half, but 3 second half goals secured the win for the Lions. The first half was back and forth with neither team getting a strong look at a goal. Senior Captain Danny Coppola would open the scoring 7 minutes into the second half off an assist from the other Senior Captain Andy Ohanesian. Jimmy King found Kyle Kaminsky a few minutes later to make it 2-0. Then Ohanesian and Junior Jake Green combined to set up Sophmore Jordan Selva for his first Varsity goal. Brian Young made 4 saves in goal for the shutout. "We had a little bit of a hang over from our big win at Brighton last Thursday. We regouped at halftime and played a bit better to secure the win." commented Varsity Coach Tracee Senter.
South Lyon is now 6-0-1 on the season and 3-0 in the KVC and play at Hartland on Thursday. |
| September 6, 2007 - Boys Settle for Draw With Pinckney:   South Lyon took their undeafeted soccer team to Hartland and came out with a 0-0 draw. South Lyon outshot Hartland 13-3 as the Eagles Keeper kept them in the game. South Lyon Keeper Brian Young made 3 saves for his third straight shutout and 6th overall. Young's goals against average is .12 and has a stellar 98% save percentage. The Lions are still unbeaten on the season at 6-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the KVC. |
| September 11, 2007 - Boys Dominate Milford:   The Milford Mavericks traveled into South Lyon for a soccer match and left with a 5-0 loss. Sophmore Jordan Selva opened the scoring 20 minutes in from a cross from Kyle Kaminsky. Jim King would make it 2-0 when Villi Armanien found him with a nice pass. The Lions came out very strong in the second half, scoring two goals in the first 5 minutes of the half with Adam Gentile and King scoring. Gentile would round out the scoring a few minutes later for his second of the game. Keeper Brian Young made 1 save for his 4th shutout in a row and his 6th of the year. South Lyon is 7-0-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the KVC and travel to Novi for a pivotal matchup of KVC unbeaten teams. |
| September 14, 2007 - Lions Beat Novi - Take First Place Alone:
  The Lions traveled to Novi on Thursday night in the battle for first place in the KVC soccer race. The first half was a back and forth battle with the score being tied 0-0 at half. The second half was started out much the same, but halfway through Sophmore Jordan Selva took a pass from Senior Nate Bohn to put the Lions up 1-0. Novi would tie the game up 5 minutes later, but with three minutes left in the game Junior Jake Green, finished off a Kyle Kaminsky free kick for the game winner. South Lyon is now 8-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the KVC for sole possesion of 1st place.

| September 15, 2007 - Lions Fight Past Walled Lake Central:   The Lions traveled to Walled Lake Central and came away with a hard fought 3-2 victory. For the first time this year, the Lions were trailing in the game. Walled Lake Central scored 15 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Second half South Lyon turned up the pressure and was able to get many good scroing chances. Junior Jake Green found Sophmore Curt Green who converted for his first Varsity goal. Adam Gentile would give the Lions the lead midway through the half with a nifty shot in the upper corner of the goal. Central tied it up with about 10 minutes to go, but Sophmore Jordan Selva scored with 6 minutes left to give the Lions the victory. South Lyon is now 9-0-2 on the season. |
| September 18, 2007 - Lions Blank Howell:
  The 9th ranked Lions traveled to Howell and came out with a 3-0 victory. Jim King opened the scoring with only 5 minutes left in the first half off a Kyle Kaminsky corner kick. This gave the Lions a 1-0 halftime lead. Eight minutes in to the second half, Danny Coppola scored off another Kaminsky free kick for a 2-0 Lions lead. Exchange student Vili Armanen converted a penalty kick to give the Lions the 3-0 victory. Kaminsky's two assists tied him for the all time assist record at SLHS with 27 for his career. Brian Young recorded his 7th shutout of the season, which is also a new school record.

| September 25, 2007 - Boys Down Brighton - Again:
  The Brighton Bulldog Soccer Team came into the Jungle Tuesday night trying to knock off the #8 ranked Lions, but came out with a 5-3 loss. Brighton scored early in the first half, but South Lyon came storming back with 3 first half goals. Senior Captain Danny Coppola scored two header goals with assists going to Kyle Kaminsky. Adam Gentile would score an unassisted goal late in the second half to make it 3-1 at half. South Lyon stormed out in the second half, with Senior Captain Andy Ohanesian getting a header goal, again with Kaminsky on the assist to make it 4-1. Brighton would try to make it close scoring a couple goals late, but Sophmore Jordan Selva scored an unassited goal to keep the game out of reach. Kyle Kaminsky's 3 assists on the night now give him 30 for his career and he is the all time assist leader at South Lyon High School.
South Lyon is 7-0-2 in the KVC (1st place) and 11-0-3 overall. |
| September 27, 2007 - Boys Still Rolling - Beat Pinckney:   The South Lyon Soccer Team (ranked 8th in the coaches poll) traveled to Pinckney on Thursday night, and came away with a 2-0 victory. Sophmore Jordan Sulva scored 12 minutes into the game, with assists to Brian Young and Jim King. The score would remain 1-0 at halftime. Senior Kyle Kaminsky would add an insurance goal halfway through the second half, with Vili Amranen and Jake Green getting the assists. Young made three saves for his 9th shutout. South Lyon is now 8-0-2 in the KVC and 12-0-3 overall. |
| October 2, 2007 - Boys Beat Harland:   The number 8th ranked South Lyon Soccer team hosted Hartland and moved their unbeaten streak to 16 with a 1-0 win over Hartland. Junior Jake Green scored halfway through the first half, with an assist going to Senior Captain Andy Ohanesian. Junior Brian Young made 4 saves for his school record 10th shutout of the season. South Lyon is 13-0-3 on the season and 9-0-2 in the KVC (1st place). |
| October 4, 2007 - Boys Dominate Milford:   The South Lyon Soccer Team traveled to Milford Thursday night and came home with a 4-1 victory. Senior Captain Andy Ohanesian opened the scoring 7 minutes into the game with an assist going to senior Kyle Kaminsky. Miford would tie up the game a minute later, but South Lyon would score 2 more times with goals from senior Jim King and junior Adam Gentile. Gentile would score again in the second half for the 4-1 victory. Kaminskys two assists on the night give him 15 for the season, a new school record. South Lyon is 14-0-3 overall and 10-0-2 in the KVC (1st place). |
| October 6, 2007 - Boys Squeak by Walled Lake Western:   The 8th ranked Lions soccer team scored 3 first half goals on Saturday to down Walled Lake Western 3-2. In a back and forth first half, the Lions scored 3 minutes into the game with Adam Gentile scoring. Walled Lake Western scored the next two to go ahead, but Gentile scored 2 more goals to end the half for his first career hat trick. Junior Jake Green assisted on all three goals. South Lyon moves to 15-0-3 overall and hosts Novi on Tuesday in a game that will decide this years KVC champion. |
| October 9, 2007 - Boys Tie Novi:   The #7 state ranked Lions hosted the Novi Wildcats to decide who would win the last KVC soccer crown on Tuesday. After a hard fought game the score remained 0-0. Junior Brian Young made 13 saves for his 11th shutout of the season (school record). South Lyon and Novi remained tied atop the KVC with 1 game left to play on Thursday. A South Lyon win would give them a share of the title. South Lyon is 15-0-4 overall and 10-0-3 in the KVC and host Howell on Thursday (senior night) to finish off the regular season. South Lyon opens state tournament play next Tuesday when they host Pinckney. Kickoff for both games is 7pm. |
| October 12, 2007 - ** Boys Complete an Unbeaten Season - Win Share of KVC Title! **:   The #7 ranked Lions Soccer team hosted the Howell Highlanders on their senior night and were less than hospitable winning the game 9-1. Seven different players scored for the Lions. Juniors Chris Kobyashi and Jake Green each had two, while Seniors Nathan Bohn, Joe Bailo, Tim Rossetto, and Vili Armanen each had one. Junior Adam Gentile added one as well and leads the team in goals with 13. South Lyon finishes the season as KVC Champs!!!!! and is one of only 3 teams in the state of Michigan (out of 453) to finish unbeaten in the regular season. The 16 wins is a new school record for wins in a season. South Lyon is 16-0-4 going into district play. They host Pinckney at home on Tuesday. Kickoff will by 7pm. |
| October 18, 2007 - ** DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER **:   The #7 ranked South Lyon Soccer team played Brighton for a third time this year, and came out with a third victory with a 2-1 double overtime victory. South Lyon scored first with 12:52 left in the first half when senior Andy Ohanesian sent an 80 yard pass down the field to Senior Villi Armanen who putt it in the net. That is the way the score would stay until Brighton scored with 3 minutes left in the game to tie it up. The first overtime went scoreless. Then 1:38 into the second OT Sophmores Curt Green and Jordan Selva put a combination play and found senior Joe Bailo for the Golden Goal game winner! South Lyon advances to Saturdays District final 7pm at Novi against Detroit Catholic Central. South Lyon's record is now 18-0-4 on the season. |
| October 21, 2007 - ** Overtime Ending for Lyons' Season **:   In a District Championship matchup between # 7 Ranked South Lyon and #6 Ranked Detroit Catholic Central, it took overtime to decide the match. DCC converted a PK a few minutes into the first overtime to win the game 1-0. South Lyon finishes the season with a 18-1-4 overall record and were KVC Champs. They also broke 7 school records this season including shutouts in a season (11) and wins in a season (18). South Lyon was one of 3 teams in the state of Michigan to finish the regular season unbeaten. |
