| Girls Open Season with Win
March 17, 2008. On this cold, windy evening, South Lyon hosted Walled Lake Western in the season opening game for both teams. Play was concentrated early in the middle of the pitch, with very few chances being created by either team. Play opened up midway through the first half, with Walled Lake creating several chances from long range which were easily saved by the South Lyon keeper. Walled Lake's defense was up to every challenge from South Lyon, until the 30th minute when Freshman Courtney Harrison collected the ball at midfield and found space towards goal before threading a ball through to on running Sophomore Kortney Koenig who slotted a shot near post past the Warrior keeper. The half ended with South Lyon keeping Walled Lake from mounting any serious challenges. Walled Lake turned up the pressure with the wind to their backs to start the second half, creating several good scoring chances with balls over the top of South Lyon's defense. However, South Lyon was up to the challenge, keeping Walled Lake off the scoreboard, although needing to turn back several last minute opportunities through the fine play of their veteran backfield and Senior keeper Katie Williams, who earned the clead sheet with 12 saves on the night. South Lyon is now 1-0.
